Eduardo Arana joined OLIVARES in 2017 and is a member of the firm’s litigation team. His practice focuses on administrative, civil, and commercial matters, with particular emphasis on litigation involving the pursuit and defense of damages claims arising from the infringement of intellectual property rights.
Throughout his practice, he has participated in cases in which compensation has been obtained in favor of clients, as well as in the defense of claims where clients have successfully avoided any payment liability. His experience includes leading strategic litigation before civil and commercial courts, particularly in disputes involving intellectual property infringement and damages claims.
He has also been involved in the filing and handling of nullity actions before the Federal Administrative Justice Court, as well as amparo proceedings before federal courts, mainly in matters related to regulatory and intellectual property issues, challenging acts and resolutions issued by administrative authorities such as the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS), the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (PROFECO), among others.
Eduardo has also participated in several administrative proceedings involving infringement, nullity, and cancellation actions before the IMPI, as well as in the subsequent judicial proceedings, focusing on the protection and enforcement of clients’ trademark and patent rights.
Additionally, he is involved in litigation against the National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information and Personal Data Protection (INAI), aimed at protecting clients’ confidential information and personal data when resolutions issued by such authority order the disclosure of sensitive information.
I love running. I’m also a big fan of soccer, Formula 1, and tennis.
On weekends, I try to rest, spend time with my family, and go out for walks with my dog.
