Mexican customs and the Attorney General´s office will continue operations.

As we have informed in previous newsletters, in view of the contingency measures adopted to prevent the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, as from the end of March, and at least until April 30, 2020, many of the judicial and administrative authorities such as Circuit Courts, Federal Courts, Supreme Court of Justice, the Mexican Patent and Trademark Office and the Mexican Copyright Office, have suspended their labors, being the case that Mexican Government is only authorizing certain essential sectors of the public administration to continue their operations.

Considering their special situation as an essential sector, Mexican Customs and the Attorney General’s Office and other entities devoted to prosecute criminal proceedings will continue their operations, with restrictions, during these months.

Considering this, the Anti-Counterfeit/Piracy group of Olivares, will continue providing its services with certain restrictions due to the sanitary measures but, assessing and warning their clients of any suspect importation detected, and in case it is necessary, executing the criminal actions available in order to protect the IP rights of our clients.

Furthermore, although street investigations are restricted at this point in time in view of the contingency measures, our Anti-Counterfeit/Piracy group continues rendering online investigations and takedowns activities in the digital environment.
